Help us say goodbye with a bang to both Christmas and the museum as we close for almost two years for our transformational development project, Unlocking the Geffrye.
See the period rooms for the last time, join in the Epiphany celebrations and enjoy live music and performances, street food, crafts for all, winter cocktails and special offers in the shop.
Saturday 6 January, 3.30 – 5pm
Now in its 25th year, our Epiphany celebration has become a favourite tradition at the Geffrye. Warm up by the bonfire and enjoy Epiphany stories, a sing-a-long with traditional carols, live music from our friends, the London Orphean Brass Band, tales of Christmas past from our storyteller and a taste of Twelfth Night cake and mulled wine. There will also be the traditional crowning of the Epiphany King and Queen from among the girls and boys in the audience. Street food, hot cocktails and lawn games will also be available.
Please note that this is an outdoor event which will take place on our front lawns in rain or shine! Please come dressed for the weather.
Sunday 7 January, 10am – 5pm
The celebrations continue all day with live music and performances, craft workshops, and the museum team on hand to talk about the Geffrye’s plans for the future and a chance for you to get behind the scenes.
