The Butterfly House is home to hundreds of beautiful butterflies, free-flying in a specially planted tropical indoor garden. Visitors will be able to see species from around the world, look out for rare butterflies like the Horniman’s Swallowtail, and watch them hatch out in the puparium as they learn about the life-cycle and behaviour of these fascinating creatures.

Excitement has been mounting since plans for the new attraction were announced earlier this year, and following months of construction, planting the indoor garden with more than 60 exotic plant species, and training staff in butterfly care, the Butterfly House is now ready to open.

Ticket prices: Child £6; Adult £6, Family (2 adults, 2 children) £15. Prices include 10% voluntary Gift Aid donation. See horniman.ac.uk/butterflyhouse for more information. Horniman Members and Benefactors enjoy free, unlimited visits to the exhibition but will need to book tickets in advance.

Opening times: 10am to 5pm until 28 October 2017; 10am to 4pm from 29 October 2017 until February 2018 (closed 24 to 26 December 2017 – see the website for full details of seasonal opening times). Last admission is 30 minutes before closing.
